Our Story

My name is Kellie Davenport and this is a blog about the lives of our family.  My husband Jason is the most amazing husband and father.  Jason and I got married on January 10, 2003 and 2 1/2 years ago had our first son, Levi Thomas, on March 22, 2006.  We are currently pregnant with our second son and due February 18th.

On March 22, 2006, the most amazing life changing thing happened to us. We became parents of a little tank named Levi Thomas.  He is a little blonde-haired, blue-eyed monster whose nickname is “Gooey.” That nickname was given to him by his Aunt Carrie who basically only saw a picture of him moments after he was born. He had all of that medicine junk in his eyes, so he got the nickname Gooey and it has stuck…well, actually we call him “Goo” or “Goo Man”.  We are just loving everyday with this boy.

On July 17th 2006 Levi was diagnosed with a genetic life-threatening disease called Cystic Fibrosis.  This is a disease that affects the lungs and digestive system.  We have been coming along side our son to help him in his daily fight against CF and trying to stay healthy.  He is a little trooper and the toughest kid I know (seriously); in fact, his favorite phrase after a fall, having blood drawn or anything else that causes pain is “I’m tough”.  It is so stinkin cute to hear him say that.  You can find more information about Cystic Fibrosis on this link  http://cff.org/

Cystic Fibrosis is a genetic disease that Jason and I are both carriers of and we did not find this out until Levi was diagnosed at 4 months of age with CF.  Our percentage of having a child with CF is 25%.  After 2 long years of prayer and going back and forth about having another biological child we felt in May 2008 that the Lord was leading us towards having another baby of our own.  We felt confident in our prayers and we are currently pregnant with our second son who DOES NOT have Cystic Fibrosis and is not even a carrier of CF.  We have been so blessed by our journey, which you can read about in our blog.

The Lord has been our strength through this all.  Jason, Levi and I have been through so much in the last 2 and a half years, but we have also grown together as a family and our relationships with the Lord are so much better today.  We feel so blessed by all of our love and support from our family and friends that we feel like all of the trials we have faced we have not done alone.  Thanks for all of your continued prayers.

We are thrilled that our second son was healed and protected from Cystic Fibrosis please keep praying that the Lord will heal Levi and that a cure is found for Cystic Fibrosis.

Enjoy our story and our journey through the life we feel so blessed to have, hence…THEGIFTOFTODAY.COM
